Happy New Year, Crunchers! We have an exciting Seattle job to ring in 2016: we’re building the new Denny Blaine Residence with Gary Merlino! This is a fantastic opportunity to test our finesse on a unique structure, and at a beautiful location, as well. At the request of the owner, we will refrain from posting pictures during construction, but believe us when we say that this is going to be an exciting and challenging job.

This August, we’re starting a new project with Walsh Construction at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. We’ll be building a new Air Traffic Control Tower & Base Building at Gray Army Airfield to replace the existing tower, which is currently an obstacle to aviation. The new tower, built to last 50 years, will house 20 people and is expected to open by April 2017. Gray Army Airfield, which supports primarily helicopters and other Army rotorcraft, is one of the two largest airports at JBLM.
Work begins soon on a seven story mixed-use building at 41st and Roosevelt in Seattle, WA. This building will provide over 200 residential units and almost 9,000 square feet of retail space to meet the growing demands of the U District. We’re collaborating with Conco Commercial Concrete Contractors to complete this project in true Cruncher fashion, on schedule and with excellence.
We’re starting work this week on the future tallest tower in Tukwila: the 19-story Washington Place at Southcenter. This massive building, planned as the tallest skyscraper south of I-90 and north of Tacoma, will house 370 apartments as well as a 189-room business hotel with meeting space and restaurant. Washington Place will provide much needed residential space within walking distance of the mall and bus transit center. Concurrently, the city of Tukwila is planning a pedestrian/bicycle bridge leading from Southcenter over the Green River to the new Sounder rail and bus station, completing the vision of a Southcenter as an urban residential space. We’re looking forward to working with Conco Construction on this important and exciting project!
Starting soon, we’re building a new Veterans Center in Federal Way with Stegin Structural Concrete!
We love our work as Crunchers, but it is especially gratifying to support our community through projects such as this one. We’re grateful for the service of the men and women in our armed forces, and look forward to providing them with a beautiful new Veterans Center.
